Acting on tip-offs, the elite Rapid Action Battalion arrested the two couples, suspected to be members of Neo-JMB, during raids at Dhaka and Narayanganj last night, RAB media wing Assistant Director ASP Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan said.
The four were preparing to flee Bangladesh because of the crackdown by security forces, he said.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of RAB legal and media wing, told reporters they were arrested while making preparations to leave the country.
"They had plans to flee abroad. The documents that were recovered in the driver prove that they were preparing to flee to Pakistan," he said.
She and her husband used to recruit new members, assigned them for operations and took initiatives for sending them abroad after the operations become successful, Khan said.
According to primary interrogation, those arrested said they have several other groups, Khan said, adding that the members of the groups are planning to carry out suicide attacks.
Legal process is underway against them.
Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury, who police said had reorganised JMB as Neo-JMB, was killed in a raid on a house in Narayanganj along with two others on August 27.
