Two tigers, which had recently attacked villagers and killed a school teacher, were caught and caged by the forest department from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve's Khitouli beat area.
The tigers were caught after being tranquilised by a team led by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Narendra Kumar yesterday, an official release said today.
A decision will be taken soon on the future of the two caged tigers, a forest official said.
One of the tigers had on October 24 mauled to death a government school teacher near Karchuliha village in Panpatha buffer area of the tiger reserve following which the villagers staged a violent protest and damaged property of the forest department.
The protestors had injured forest department workers and policemen and set afire vehicles, guns, government records and personal belongings of the employees, it said.
Police have registered a case in this regard and initiated action against those involved in the violence, the release added.
