Acting on a tip-off, police stopped the vehicle and recovered 20 quintals of beef from it near Jhakrai village in kotwali Aliganj yesterday.
Of the three persons in the vehicle, accused Jitender was arrested, while the two other accused - Bhoorey and Sabir - managed to escape.
The meat was being taken to Delhi for sale, police informed.
Former MLA Shishupal Singh Yadav said that Bhargain town is known for cows slaughtering and supplying beef in spite of a ban on such activities.
He also alleged that the locals had once assaulted police party, which was on a raid to keep a check on such activities.
