A week after two people died in a roof collapse in a temple here, the district administration today banned the entry of devotees in 25 dilapidated religious buildings, declaring them "dangerous".
The Ayodhya Municipal Board has identified 174 buildings in Ayodhya but has declared only 25 of them as "dangerous".
"The time-worn buildings that do not house temples will be demolished. Notices have been issued to their owners in this regard," said Faizabad Additional District Magistrate, V K Pandey.
"The dilapidated religious buildings will either be renovated or action will be taken in accordance to the suggestion of the temple's priest and managing committee," he added.
The list of the religious places where the entry of devotees has been banned includes a 17th-century mosque 'Aalamgiri Masjid' which was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, around 1700 AD, and is situated in Ragra area of Ayodhya.
In a notice pasted outside the mosque, it has been warned that the mosque is now time-worn and may collapse any time.
