25 INLD MLAs were today suspended by the Haryana Assembly Speaker for the rest of the ongoing budget session for creating unruly scenes in the House over alleged cash-for-land use licence scam.
The House had to be adjourned twice with main opposition raking up the scandal.
The Budget Session, which began on Friday with Governor's Address, was repeatedly disrupted today after Indian National Lok Dal members demanded government's reply on the fate of the Haryana Lokayukta report, which had last month recommended registration of a case against Congress MLA Ram Kishen Fauji, who is also the Chief Parliamentary Secretary, in the alleged scandal.
The INLD members, who were led by senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala and state unit chief Ashok Arora, wanted to know the fate of the adjournment motion they had given.
However, the issue witnessed heated exchanges between the opposition members and the treasury benches, prompting the Chair to adjourn the House on twice.
When the situation did not improve and the ruckus continued, the Speaker warned them and named 25 MLAs barring three including Arora and Chautala who were not present in the House at that time. INLD MLA Subhash Chaudhry too was not present today and was, therefore, not among those suspended.
When the Chair names a member, he or she has to withdraw from the House immediately.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala moved the resolution, which was passed by the House condemning the gross unruly and disorderly behaviour of the opposition MLAs.
Trouble started immediately after Question Hour was over. During Zero Hour, opposition members including two BJP MLAs - Anil Vij and Kavita Jain - tried to raise multiple issues, which could not be heard in the din.
As soon as the Speaker allowed INLD's Rampal Majra to read out his Calling Attention Notice given on malnutrition problem among the children of the state, Arora got up and pleaded with the Speaker that adjournment motion on alleged CLU scandal be taken up first.
"The Chief Minister should give reply and apprise the House of the action being taken by the government on the Lokayukta report," Chautala demanded.
