26 shops gutted in fire

A fire broke out due to short circuit in the wee hours today in Gammut area, gutting 26 shops, police said.
There was no report of any injury or casualty, they said.
The fire broke out at around 2 AM, police said.
Fire tenders, police and owners of the shops rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire, they said.
The loss of property is being ascertained, they said.
