Mohammed Mustafa, Mohammed Mukhtyar and Mohammed Yusuf were arrested yesterday when they tried to escape after openning fire on 38-year-old Delhi Police constable, Manoj Kumar, when he tried to arrest them from Bindapur locality during a raid on specific inputs, a senior police official said.
Kumar, who was deputed with Delhi Police's Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS), caught the snatchers who fought with him and then shot him in his arm after snatching his service revolver. The accused then fled, said the officer.
Hearing the gunshot, a police patrol apprehended the trio in J J Colony as they were fleeing with the pistol, said the officer.
Police said Kumar was out of danger.
