"So far a total of 19,235 chicken, 13,342 ducks, 369 emus, one ostrich and 11,939 eggs have been culled and disposed of as per the 2012 revised action plan guidelines of the Centre. Sanitisation process of the sheds and pens in which these birds were housed is in progress," Animal Husbandry Secretary Arvind Ramachandra Jannu told PTI.
Jannu said surveillance work in 10-km radius of surveillance zone is in progress and 119 serum samples have been submitted to laboratory for tests.
No unusual death in birds is noticed in the surveillance zone or in any part of Karnataka, Jannu said.
Six teams are involved in surveillance work in 10 km of surveillance zone and have submitted 175 samples to laboratory for investigation, Jannu said.
In view of confirmation of highly pathogenic avian influenza in chicken unit, the central government on October 29 had decided to cull all the birds within the radius of one km from the epicentre -
