3 militants killed in encounter in north Kashmir

Three militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Dobwan forest area, a joint team of police and army launched a search operation, an army official said.
As the search operation was going on, the militants opened fire on the security personnel who retaliated.
In the ensuing gunfight, three militants have been killed, the army official said.
He said the operation was on when reports last came in.
