3 panels set up to consider employees unions' demands

Three committees have been constituted to consider the demands of different employees' unions which are at loggerheads with the state government for the past four days.
After a meeting with representatives of Haryana Sarv Karamchari Sangh Coordination Committee here today, Chief Secretary S C Choudhary said the committees will look into implementation of labour laws, regularisation of contractual employees and demands concerning power department.
The representatives of employees' unions have also been included as members in these committees, which would submit its reports at the earliest.
"After the committees submit their report, the government will hold a meeting with the representatives of the unions on February 15," he said.
The Chief Secretary said union representatives have also given "consent" for holding the next meeting with the government.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, S S Dhillon, who was also present in the meeting, said the employees should dedicatedly perform their duties keeping in view the interest of the people.
"It is their responsibility to ensure the supply of essential services to the people," he said.
People in Haryana are facing problems on several fronts, including transport, health, education, power and water after several unions of employees of government and semi-government departments comprising over two lakh employees remained on strike from January 20 to 23.
Sangh General Secretary Subash Lamba said the union representatives were "satisfied" with the meeting of top Haryana government functionaries.
