"On the direction of a local court, a case under sections 420 (cheating), 425 (dishonest or fraudulent removal or concealment of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code was registered on July 17 at the Mankhurd police station," a senior police official said.
"A complaint in this regard was registered by Balram Shirsathe (62), resident of suburban Chembur," he said.
"As per the complaint, the accused Sachin Siddhu, his wife Kiran, father Ranjeet and one Bansilal Gupta duped Shirsathe and four others of Rs 2.10 crore by promising them to give houses constructed by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA)", the official said.
