4 bootleggers held, illicit liquor seized in J-K

Four persons, including a woman, were arrested and seized 200pouches of illicit liquor fromtheir possessions in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
Acting on tip-off, police yesterday intercepted a man in the bus stand area in Udhampur and seized 136 pouches of country-made liquor from his possession, a police officer said.
The accused, Ganesh Kumar, a resident of Jib area in the district, has been booked under various sections of the Excise Act and a probe is on in the case, he said.
In a separate incident, police in Reasi district have arrested a woman bootlegger Kamlesh Kour who was allegedly making liquor at her residence in the Jambri village of the district.
The police yesterday raided her house and seized a liquor-making equipment along with 10 litres of illicit liquor and 5,000 litre of 'Lahan', which is used to make such liquor, the officer said.
The woman was booked under various sections of the Excise Act, he said.
Meanwhile, police in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday arrested two alleged bootleggers and seized 87 pouches of illicit liquor from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Mahinder Paul and Bhola, the officer said, adding cases have been registered against the accused.
