The Coast Guard Station here dispatched its Interceptor 119 vessel to locate the boat at 9.45 PM last night after they were alerted by a senior police official, an official release said.
Though it initially faced difficulty in locating the stranded fishermen, the CG contacted one of the fishermen over his mobile phone and made them fire signal pistol cartridges and finally located the boat at 11.10 PM, it said.
"Due to water ingress, the boat was submerged in the sea about 6.5 nautical miles off Puducherry Light House," it said.
