4 killed, 5 injured in hit-and-run mishap

Four members of a family, including two women, who were on pilgrimage to Tirumala, were killed and five others injured when they were run over by a speeding vehicle in the district in early hours today.
While the victims were standing near the road after their vehicle got punctured at around 1.30 AM near Bodduvaripalem village on the outskirts of Nellore town, a speeding unknown vehicle driven in a rash and negligent manner ran over them, Kodavalur Sub-Inspector Naresh said.
"Three of them died on the spot while another died undergoing treatment. Five others injured in the mishap were undergoing treatment at a hospital," he said.

The victims, all natives of Kurichedu in Prakasam district, were on a pilgrimage to Tirumala, police said adding, further investigations are on in the case.
