Four men, including two brothers, were today sentenced to jail term of up to 25 years by a Malaysian court after they were found guilty for planning terror attacks on government buildings and nightclubs.
Siblings Mohd Anwar Azmi, 33, and Mohd Nurkamal, 30, were sentenced to 25 years each while, Izwan Shameer Suzaimi, 25, and Muhammad Luqman Hakim Abdul Aziz, 22, received 20 year terms each.
They were arrested by Counter Terrorism Unit police in country's southeast Hulu Langat district on April 25 last year over conspiracy to attack government buildings, nightclubs and other entertainment outlets, New Strait Times Online reported.
They were found in possession of chemicals and materials used to make explosives.
High Court Judicial Commissioner said the offences committed by the accused were serious and the court has a duty to meet out a sentence that would deter others from committing the same offence.
The court was awaiting a probation report for another underage accused, who was also found guilty of the charge, before meting out the sentence.
