Fifth Additional Sessions Judge Srinivasan in his order said the prosecution through cogent presentation of witness and materials proved the case against the accused -- a construction worker, his wife and three of their relatives.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs.7,500 on each of them.
According to the prosecution, 19-year old Kumar had an illicit relationship with the wife of the construction worker. When he questioned her, the woman blamed Kumar for the affair.
They took Kumar to a secluded place at Siruthur Tank near Oomachikulam here and set him ablaze after dousing him with petrol on September 28, 2009.
Police, which filed a man missing case on a complaint from Kumar's father, found the half-burnt body in the tank and following investigations arrested the five persons.
