Five persons were arrested from Rajasthan and Mumbai for allegedly placing online bets on the Pakistan- Bangladesh match in the ongoing cricket World Cup, police said Monday.
The accused have been identified as Mukesh Thakkar (38), Yogesh Thakkar (44), Hardik Thakkar (40), Kartik Thakkar (27) and Dhaval Thakkar (59), an official said.
On specific information, Mulund police initially held two accused for placing bets, he said, adding that their questioning revealed more names after which raids were conducted on Sunday in Udaipur in Rajasthan.
"We have seized five laptops, 11 mobile phones, six dongles, an LCD, a car and cash from the accused," he added.
