5-yr-old mauled to death by leopard

A five-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard in a tea garden of Alipurduar district on Wednesday, forest department sources said.

The boy, identified as Iden Naik, was playing with other children in Dhumchipara tea garden of Madarihat area in the afternoon when he was attacked by the leopard.

As the other children raised an alarm, local people rushed to the spot and the animal fled leaving the boy, the sources said.

When Naik was taken to Madarihat hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
