Maintaining that efforts were on to strengthen the party in Punjab, a senior Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader today said 50 per cent posts would be given to youths in the organisational set-up.
BSP general secretary Narendra Kashyap, who is in charge of party affairs in Punjab, said women will also be given adequate representation in the organisation.
Talking to reporters after taking part in "Punjab Bachao Jagriti Rally" of BSP held at nearby Hadiabad on the 59th birthday of party supremo Mayawati, Kashyap said, "To ensure participation of youths, 50 per cent posts, right from state to booth levels, will be given to them in the organisation."
He said BSP will contest all the assembly seats in Delhi in the February 7 elections. "Mayawati has already announced that BSP will go it alone in Delhi polls," he said.
On Punjab, Kashyap said that BSP will contest the upcoming municipal committees and corporations elections on party symbol. "Those who could not get opportunity of contesting Lok Sabha or assembly elections will be given opportunity of contesting local bodies polls," he remarked.
Lashing out at the SAD-BJP alliance government in the state, he called SAD-BJP as "anti-people and anti-Dalits." He accused these parties of plunging Punjab into the quagmire of drug menace.
"Instead of doing any 'Vikas' (development), the ruling alliance has done 'Naujawanon Ka Vinash' (destruction of youths) by hooking them on to drugs," he alleged.
Kashyap alleged that the ruling parties and opposition Congress had tried to defame Punjabis in the country in their race to out-do each another in their utterances regarding the drug menace.
