555 gms gold worth about Rs 17 lakh seized at Madurai airport
Gold weighing about 555 gms and worth Rs 16.60 lakh, was seized from a passenger who arrived here from Sri Lanka, customs officials said.
On suspicion, the officials checked the baggage of the passenger and found the smuggled gold concealed inside ball pens.
The gold was confiscated and the passenger detained for questioning.
