6 injured in clash between police, family members of criminal

Kin of an alleged criminal today attacked and injured five members of a police team which had gone to his house in a village here to arrest him.
A woman was injured when the police personnel fired pellets in retaliation.
Deolimangi police station SHO Satyanarayan Sharma said a tip-off was received that Roshan (45) and Ayub Khan (35), who are wanted in several cases of extortion, were hiding in the former's house in Islampur village. The police team conducted a raid there this morning, he said.
After the police personnel arrested Roshan, his family members threw stones at them and freed him. Five policemen were injured in the stone-pelting, he said.
The police personnel had to fired pellets in the air to disperse them, he said.
A pellet hit Noorbano, the wife of Roshan, on the foot, and she was rushed to Maharao Bheem Singh hospital, her family members claimed.
The SHO, however, denied that the woman was wounded in police action.
The injured policemen were admitted to New Medical College hospital, he said.
A case has been registered against some of the members of the family on charges of "misbehaviour and interfering in police work", ASP, Kota (rural), Pawan Jain said.
He said the court of the additional district judge in Ramganjmandi had issued an arrest warrant against Roshan.
