63 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar last year

As many as 63 drug peddlers were arrested in Srinagar district last year and huge quantities of contraband were seized from them, police said today.
"Srinagar police registered 42 cases against 63 drug peddlers in 2014 and recovered large amount of contraband from them," a police spokesman said here.
He said the police maintained a constant momentum against the drug menace last year.
"In total, 13,682 contraband tablets and capsules, 823 intoxicant bottles, 21 kg poppy, 12.587 kg charas and 22 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the arrested peddlers," the spokesman said.
Police have sought co-operation from the people and have asked them to approach it if they notice any suspicious activity.
