A seven-year-old boy was killed by a pack of stray dogs at Mheas Bir near Nabha here, police said today.
The boy, Manish, was rushed to PGIMER in Chandigarh where he died due to excessive bleeding, they said.
The incident took place last afternoon when the boy went to a nearby plantation to pluck some mangoes, while his father, Babu Ram, was resting at a brick kiln after eating lunch, police said.
Manish was attacked and dragged by the pack of dogs, before mauling him, they said.
Police said a passerby noticed the boy being attacked by dogs and he tried to save him. He was first taken to a hospital here and then referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
On Wednesday, a five-year-old girl was killed by a pack of stray dogs in Punjab's Sangrur district.
