800 kgs of banned tobacco products seized in TN

Nearly 800 kgs of banned tobacco products valued at Rs 7 lakhs were seized from a private bus in the district today and one person arrested in this connection, police said.
Acting on specific information, the Food Safety department officials carried out a search in the bus coming from Bengaluru and confiscated the banned tobacco products of various brands, worth Rs seven lakh, they said.
The officials nabbed one person, while another managed to escape, they said adding investigation is on, police added.
