"A total of 6,58,701 Income Tax returns were filed by people in Indore region and among them 5,36,826 (82 per cent) filed their returns through the option of e-return, while the rest 1,21,875 (18 per cent) filed it through the conventional method of filing IT returns by submitting papers," a senior official of the Indore region Income Tax Department told PTI.
Since the financial year 2008-09, the trend of filing through e-returns has been growing in the region while the practice of filing by submitting papers is declining, the official said.
A total of 16 districts were included in the Income Tax Department's Indore-Ujjain divisions.
