A delegation of AAP MLAs today met Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded immediate release of Rs 1,555 crore which the Delhi Development Authority owes to three municipal corporations of Delhi.
The delegation also handed over a memorandum to Jung, who is also DDA Chairman, to release funds which will help the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) in resolving the on-going strike by workers and employees of two civic bodies.
Apart from Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti and Krishna Nagar MLA S K Bagga -- both members of the DDA, the delegation included Alka Lamba (Chandani Chowk), Kartar Singh Tanwar (Chhatarpur), Somdutt (Sadar Bazar), Vishesh Ravi (Karol Bagh), Anil Bajpai (Gandhi Nagar), Sharad Chauhan (Narela), Mohammad Ishraque (Seelampur), Amanatullah (Okhla), Nitin Tyagi (Laxmi Nagar) and Ajesh Yadav (Badli).
Attacking the DDA, they alleged the body has not been able to protect land from political parties and their leaders.
"You are requested to convene a meeting of MLAs, Vice-Chairman DDA with his officers to discuss all such encroachment. DDA is almost doing nothing to get such land back." they said in the memorandum.
They called the on-going strike by the MCD workers as "BJP-managed" and said the Delhi government has paid its dues to the East Delhi and North Delhi Municipal Corporations.
They also emphasised on formation of a Thane-level committee to raise hardships, instances of criminalities faced by people of their constituency before the respective police authorities for redressal.
