Of 2.5 lakh students who pass out of the class XII every year in the capital, nearly 1.25 lakh fail to get college admission, therefore the scheme will benefit them, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
In fact, the government wants even those youngsters who are taking college admission to enroll for apprenticeship, he said.
Sisodia said he would like to introduce the scheme in all 1000 Delhi government schools so that vocational training can be mainstreamed.
CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Jayant Krishna, applauded Delhi government's initiative and said that revised Apprenticeship Act is a great reform which has happened after 50 years.
