AAP workers clash with police in Anand Parbat area

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers clashed with Delhi Police demanding the resignation of the local ACP and SHO over the recent death of a 19-year-old girl in the Anand Parbat area after being stabbed.
"Delhi's police under Modi is blind towards violence against women. It seems the bribes of the assaulter's are more than the blood of our sisters. AAP will ensure that Meenakshi gets justice," the party's youth wing chief Ankush Narang, who was leading the protests, said.
He demanded immediate resignation of the Anand Parbat police station SHO and Patel Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and an independent inquiry into the case adding that few protesters were injured in the lathicharge.

Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the large number of protesters of the party's youth wing gathered outside the Anand Parbat police station and clambered over the barricades put up in the area marked by a heavy police presence.
Later AAP deplored the "high handedness" of police. Police Commissioner BS Bassi defending the action of cops saying that "whatever has been done by the police has been done on merit and shall be done on merit too."
Nineteen-year-old Meenakshi was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers living in the Anand Parbat area for protesting their verbal abuse on July 16.
