Abdullah, who has never lost an election in Jammu and Kashmir, was trailing his nearest rival Tariq Hameed Karra of PDP by 21,741 votes.
Abdullah, who has never lost an election from the state, had polled 43,835 votes whereas Karra polled 65,576 votes.
Azad, who was for the first time contesting from a Lok Sabha seat from the state, was also now trailing by 31958 votes over his nearest BJP rival Jitendra Singh.
Congress' sitting MP from Jammu Madan Lal Sharma saw BJP's state President Jugal Kishore surging ahead with 5,05,266 votes, whereas he managed only 3,08,786 votes.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, who tested electoral waters after a break in 2009 polls, was leading over her nearest rival and sitting National Conference MP by over 39,835 votes.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "I imagined a worst case scenario but early trends are worse than that. Let's hope this trend reverses as the count progresses."
Baig has polled 89,470 where as Shariq has got 70,510 votes.
In Ladakh Lok Sabha seat, Independent candidate Syed Mohammed Kazim had taken a lead of 324 votes over another independent candidate Ghulam Raza. BJP and Congress were in the third and fourth position.
