Ruling alliance of National Conference and Congress were in for a setback in Jammu and Kashmir as trends in the afternoon brought bad news for both the camps with their stalwarts Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad trailing.

Abdullah, who has never lost an election from the state, had polled 43,835 votes whereas Karra polled 65,576 votes.
Azad, who was for the first time contesting from a Lok Sabha seat from the state, was also now trailing by 31958 votes over his nearest BJP rival Jitendra Singh.
Azad, who had maintained a lead in earlier rounds, had polled 331447 votes while his main rival BJP stood ahead by polling 363195 votes so far.
Congress' sitting MP from Jammu Madan Lal Sharma saw BJP's state President Jugal Kishore surging ahead with 5,05,266 votes, whereas he managed only 3,08,786 votes.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, who tested electoral waters after a break in 2009 polls, was leading over her nearest rival and sitting National Conference MP by over 39,835 votes.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "I imagined a worst case scenario but early trends are worse than that. Let's hope this trend reverses as the count progresses."
