After a week-long search, Odisha police today nabbed Satyam Sekhar Roul, the adopted son of arrested self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Roul.
Satyam, 20, was held from a hotel in Mumbai after state police along with the local cops tracked his cell phone call records and debit card transactions last evening, sources said.
He was brought here this afternoon and was arrested after initial interrogation on charges of moving valuables, including gold from the godman's ashram in Kendrapara district, they said.
Satyam would be produced before the court of SDJM here tomorrow morning where the prosecution would seek a five day remand of him, they said.
Police have detected multiple bank accounts operated by him and several properties in his name.
The self-styled godman, who was arrested on August 7 under several charges of cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and conspiracy, is now lodged in Choudwar jail here after his bail application was rejected.
A below-average student without any known source of income, Satyam was enjoying a lavish lifestyle and owns a flat in a posh locality in Bhubaneswar, believed to be worth nearly Rs 2 crore. His current bank balances are pegged at Rs 30 lakh and he owns several luxury cars and other valuables, sources said.
