Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today came to the aid of an injured youth who was found lying on the road after an accident, helping him to reach hospital before catching his flight to New Delhi.
Concluding a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency Amethi, Gandhi was on his way to the Lucknow Airport to catch a return flight to New Delhi when he saw the 25-year-old youth lying on the Lucknow-Sultanpur road near Kabirpur, about 18 kms from here.
"Instructing the cavalcade to stop, Rahul got down to enquire about his well-being and ensured that he got first aid in the ambulance which was accompanying his fleet," Congress MLA, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, said.
"Gandhi left after giving instructions that the ambulance must take the youth to the hospital and inform his family members," Singh said, adding that the injured had been identified as Jayant Singh of neighbouring Asthi village.
The youth suffered from a facture on the right leg after dashing into a roadside tree and has been admitted to Civil Hospital.
