Actor Farooq Sheikh laid to rest

With moist eyes and bereavement filling their hearts, family and close friends bid adieu to actor Farooq Sheikh who was laid to rest at a burial ground in suburban Andheri today.
The 65-year-old actor, known for his boyish charm and gentlemanly mannerisms, died in Dubai on Saturday morning following a heart attack.
His relatives landed at the city airport along with his body around 4.30 PM.
Celebrities like Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Satish Shah, Deepti Naval, Sarika, Kalpana Lajmi, Tabu, Zoya Akhtar Farhan Akhtar, Daisy Irani, Jackky Bhagnani, Rahul Bose, Johnny Lever, Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Alok Nath and others paid their last respect to the actor at his apartment at Highland Park in Lokhandwala Complex between 5 PM and 7 PM.
However, Bollywood heavyweights were conspicuous by their absence.
The actor was buried around 9 PM.
Farooq began his career in Bollywood with 'Garam Hava' and acted in memorable films like 'Umrao Jaan', 'Chashme Buddoor', 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi', 'Kissi Se Na Kehna', 'Noorie' and others, even though he never abandoned theatre, which was his first love.
The actor won the 2010 National Film Award for best supporting actor for 'Lahore'.
This year, Farooq acted in 'Listen Amaya', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' and 'Club 60', which was his last released film. He will also be seen in Jacky Bhagnani's upcoming film 'Youngistan'.
He also acted in a number of television serials like 'Shrikant', 'Chamatkar', 'Ji Mantriji' and hosted popular show 'Jeena issi ka naam hai' in which he interviewed celebrities.
