He has been charged with two misdemeanor charges after police officers caught him smoking marijuana from an e-cigarette in public, reported Ace Showbiz.
According to a spokesperson for New York Police Department, the "Making History" star was also caught having a small amount of cocaine.
Because of that, Adam was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and marijuana in the 5th degree.
The 35-year-old actor was reportedly taken to jail, processed and was later released after given a desk appearance ticket.
Adam is best known for his role as Max Blum on "Happy Endings".
The actor will next be seen in "The Little Hours" opposite Dave Franco and Alison Brie, and "Band Aid", which is set to hit US theatres on June 2.
Adam's movie credits include "Dirty Grandpa", "Bad Night", "Life After Beth" and "Iron Man 3".
