Adichie, Lahiri on women's fiction prize shortlist

Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is up against Americans Jhumpa Lahiri and Donna Tartt for fiction accolade the Women's Prize.
Adichie's Nigerian exploration "Americanah"; Lahiri's Indian-American saga "The Lowland"; and Tartt's arty bestseller "The Goldfinch" are among six books shortlisted for the 30,000-pound (USD 50,000) prize, open to female writers in English from around the world.
Adichie previously won in 2010 for "Half of a Yellow Sun." The other finalists are "Burial Rites," an Icelandic murder mystery by Australia's Hannah Kent; Irish author Audrey Magee's World War II story "The Undertaking"; and British-Irish writer Eimear McBride's impressionistic "A Girl is a Half-formed Thing."

Previously known as the Orange Prize, the award is now the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction after its sponsor, a liqueur.
The winner will be announced June 4.
