Advocate Manimaran was attacked by his son Rajesh on the ground floor of the five storied additional law chamber buildings in the High Court premises and he began bleeding after sustaining grievous injuries.
Soon, the assailant was overpowered and roughed up by the public and some advocates. He was later handed over to the police. Both the victim and assailant were rushed to separate government hospitals.
Esplanade police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The attack led to tense moments in the high security High Court premises, the inner precincts of which is being guarded by the CISF and outer parts by Tamil Nadu police.
The incident happened in the area under the ambit of state police.
