With organisations around the world adapting to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data have emerged as the most widely chosen domains by working professionals for honing their technology skills, says a survey.
According to ed-tech company Simplilearn's Career Impact Survey, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) were cited by 25 per cent of respondents as suitable domains for upgrading their skills, followed by big data and data science (20 per cent).
Other new age categories such as digital marketing, cloud computing, cybersecurity, devOps, and agile & scrum together saw 55 per cent uptake among professionals seeking skill upgrade.
"Going digital is indispensable for a company's survival today and likewise, it has become crucial for professionals to proactively upgrade their skills to meet the latest industry requirements," Simplilearn Founder and CEO Krishna Kumar said.
According to the survey, 44 per cent of the respondents said such skill upgrade and certifications impacted their pay raise during the performance appraisal cycle, while 24 per cent of the respondents said it impacted their promotions.
Moreover, when it comes to job searches, majority of respondents (62 per cent) found professional certifications increased their prospect of finding new jobs.
Over the next three to six months, 67 per cent of the respondents want to collectively hone their skills in big data, data science, AI, machine learning and cloud computing.
