Airport employees trained in Basic Life Support program

As part of its efforts to strengthen the medical emergency services, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has trained 250 employees working at the Srinagar International Airport in Basic Life Support (BLS) training programme for disaster management.
The 10-day training programme, which ended today, was jointly organised by the Directorate of Health Services and Airport Authorities of India, an spokesperson of the health department said.
"Keeping in view the strategic importance of airport and knowing the fact that the employees working there are the first responders to any disaster, imparting training to these employees was of utmost need," the spokesperson said.

The trainees included employees of Airport Authority of India, ground staff of various airlines and the police personnel deployed there.
"The significance of this training is that it was based on current global protocols by use of simulation methodology. The training module included as how to manage and stabilize an emergency patient and the mode of transporting the same upto ambulance," the spokesperson said.
It is for the first time in the country that training of such module has been imparted at the airport.

"The Directorate Of Health has been striving hard to train different sections of the society so that their expertise and skill can be used at their workplaces and in emergency like situations including natural disasters wherein they might be the first responders to act," the spokesperson said.

By imparting trainings at such levels, a huge human resource in Kashmir will be available at any moment during critical situations.
So far, the Directorate of Health has trained more than 5,000 people in the Basic Life Support module.
