The services have been rolled out in Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Bareilly and Meerut, to begin with.
"We are delighted to launch our 4G services in Uttar Pradesh. Our valued customers can now upgrade to 4G, free of cost, and enjoy a high speed mobile broadband experience on the Airtel network," Bharti Airtel CEO for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Shailendra Singh, said in a statement.
Airtel has rolled out 4G services in UP using spectrum bands of 1800 MHz (FD LTE) and will extend its 4G footprint to other towns across the state in the coming months, the statement said.
"With these recharges, 1 GB data will be instantly credited to the customer's account and the additional 9 GB data can be claimed by the customer through MyAirtel app. Users can avail a maximum of 3 recharges within 90 days, on the offer," the statement said.
Airtel's 4G services are currently available in 21 out of 22 circles across India.
