Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today launched the mobile app M-Sehat for health workers to record maternal and infant data in real-time, saying a new beginning is being made in the state's health services.
Equipping frontline workers of the health department like ASHA workers, auxiliary nurse midwives and medical officers with latest technique would improve their proficiency, he said while launching the project here.
"It would help in registration, tracking, counselling, reporting, screening and referral of the beneficiaries," Yadav said, adding that effective monitoring of steps to bring down mother-child death rate could be done through the app.
By providing smartphones to Asha workers, corruption can also be checked, he said.
"A new beginning is being made in the health services in Uttar Pradesh with the launch of this project," he said adding that the state government was setting up primary and community health centers in large numbers for better services.
The state's Medical and Health Minister Ahmad Hasan claimed that M-Sehat was world's biggest mobile pilot project.
Initially the project will be launched in five districts -- Sitapur, Kannauj, Faizabad, Mirzapur and Bareilly for a period of three years, Hasan said, adding that it would be later implemented in all districts.
