The chief minister, who was presiding over the first meeting of UP State Road Safety week, asked the concerned departments to work in a coordinated manner for making roads safer, an official statement issued here said.
Laying emphasis on the use of technology for improving traffic arrangements, the chief minister issued directions for the immediate setting up of 'road safety cell' in coordination with civil traffic police and transport department.
Akhilesh also asked for the implementation of Bengaluru kind of traffic control system in some cities including the state capital, Lucknow and added that following traffic rules strictly could save many lives.
