The first building of Andhra Pradesh's new Secretariat complex in the capital city Amaravati will be completed by the end of this month and efforts are on to develop the whole complex by 2018, a senior state minister said here today.
"We will have the first building 6 lakh sq ft for secretariat completed by the end of this month," P Narayana, state Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development said after addressing the South Asia Diaspora Convention.
"We are shifting the Secretariat from Hyderabad to Amaravati," he said.
The development of infrastructure is also underway with the main road of 18.2 km being built while tenders will be called for another seven roads of 50-km each.
With these developments, which includes power, water and sewerage, infrastructure in the new state capital is being ready for future developments.
Buildings, including the head of department office and other government agencies, will be completed by 2018, said Narayana. These are now being designed.
"We want to complete all these government buildings by December 2018," he stressed.
Land for further development of the state will be sold after 2018.
Speaking to some 1,000 delegates at the two-day convention, Narayana said Amaravati, spread over 8,603-sq km, has "investment potential in almost every sector".
He called on investors to take initiatives and invest in Amaravati, which is expected to cost more than USD 8 billion.
