American cellist teams up with sitar-sarod musicians for tour

American cellist Bary Phillips has teamed up with sitar-sarod player duo Lakshay and Aayush Mohan for the Golden Symphony three-city tour of India.
"It was a great experience and I am thankful for much appreciation from you all. I hope that the audience would love our creation of Fusion music and we continue to come up with similar concepts to make this tour a memorable one, Phillips said.
The musician, who has been learning Hindustani music for almost 20 years had recorded an album titled Raga & Raj (East Meets West Music) in 2013
Meanwhile the first perfomance of the Golden Symphoney tour was held in the city recently.

The east-west collaboration of music is also set to play in Bengaluru and Mumbai at July 29 and August 3 respectively.
"For this tour, we have specially composed a new piece which is an organic blend of Indian and Western classical traditions. It is not possible to identify the two genres individually, but at the same time we have improvised within the classical raga discipline," Lakshay said.
Lakshay and Aayush both proteges of Pandit Ravi Shankar had performed at the The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, on the occasion of their guru's 95th birth anniversary.
"It was a privilege to share stage with Barry Phillips who is an exceptionally talented artiste and a humble being. There is always a sense of pride we feel when we perform Indian classical music. This was an ode to our guru and we hope to carry the legacy forward and regale the music lovers through our performances," Ayush said.
