Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders today held a meeting here to discuss the issue of proposed bifurcation of the state.
The meeting was the first of its kind against the backdrop of a divide between Congress leaders from Telangana and Seemandhra regions over the issue.
The leaders, however, stuck to their respective positions on a separate Telangana and a "united" Andhra Pradesh.
"It is a small debate on what are the issues and how to address them. The verdict to form Telangana is already over and we have sought their co-operation," state Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu, who hails from Telangana region, said.
State Law Minister E Pratap Reddy said that bifurcation will cause great harm to the Rayalaseema region and all contentious issues can be sorted out if Andhra Pradesh remains united.
