Any attempt to vitiate JK polls won't be allowed: DGP

Any attempt to vitiate the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir will not be allowed, Director General of Police K Rajendra said today, stressing on the need for coordination among various security agencies.
The DGP stressed greater synergy among various forces and agencies deployed for election duties, saying that the coordination among all stakeholders would help ensure a conducive atmosphere for the people to exercise their franchise.
"Any attempt to vitiate the process will not be allowed (in ongoing elections in Jammu and Kashmir," Kumar told a high-level security review meeting with regard to elections.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has a rich experience in conducting the electoral process and the force along with other sister agencies would leave no stone unturned to conduct the assembly elections in a congenial atmosphere.

He asked to adhere the guidelines circulated by the Election Commission of India strictly and sought reports from the officers present in the meeting about the deployment of state police and central para-military forces in different areas of the province.
The officers apprised the meeting attendees about the contingency plan and deployment of different forces for the security of candidates and polling booths. They were told that the constituencies have been categorised in different zones and sections and deployments made as per the requirements and sensitiveness of the area.

Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and District Superintendents of Police, apprised the meeting about the arrangements made by them in their respective areas.

They informed the meeting that security of contesting candidates and venue of public rallies has been sensitised and the safety of dignitaries arriving to campaign for their candidates is being reviewed on a regular basis.
Kumar, while discussing the arrangements of mobility and communication, emphasised on strengthening the communication network and connectivity for quick response to any situation.
He said that to provide mobility to the deployed forces, private vehicles have been hired and the police headquarters has circulated the modalities for hiring the vehicles which needs to be adhered in letter and spirit.
The DGP asked for smooth traffic regulation on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and other routes to ensure free movement of the candidates and the people.

He said that traffic movement on these routes should be monitored regularly.
