Briefing newspersons at a press conference after meeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here, Naidu said that a package that was offered to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh was necessary for his state.
Stressing level playing field, he said, "Andhra Pradesh is sharing borders with Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana which are surplus revenue and surplus budget states. But, Andhra Pradesh, a bifurcated state does not have industries or institutions."
Describing his meeting with BJP president Amit Shah as a meeting of "party to party", Naidu said that he had discussed with him about the provisions in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Asked about opposition for the land pooling system for construction of a new capital in the state, he attacked the opposition parties for allegedly attempting to stall the process.
"They do not want to built a capital city... Is there a history in any democratic country, where 33,000 acres of land was pooled through the land pooling system?...We have given one of the best packages in India", he said.
However, Naidu was tight-lipped over reports on naming the new capital as "Amaravathi".
He further demanded a memorial for former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao in the national capital.
Earlier, Naidu also participated at the special function here, in which former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was conferred with Bharat Ratna.
