AP CM seeks host of approvals from Nadda for health infra

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today sought six new medical colleges in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), besides other approvals for health infrastructure, from Union Health Minister J P Nadda.
Nadda met Naidu before they started for Mangalagiri near here for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), an official release said.
In the meeting, Naidu asked for a grant of Rs 1,098 cr to improve the infrastructure in government medical colleges, in order to meet the norms prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to increase the seats, it said.
The Chief Minister also demanded Nadda to set up a cancer centre in the state with an investment of Rs 250 cr, a state-level eyecare centre at the cost of Rs 110 cr, an ENT superspeciality hospital with an investment of Rs 50 cr, and a pediatric superspeciality hospital at the cost of Rs 50 cr, it said.
He also sought Rs 100 cr for the upgradation of the psychiatry hospital at Visakhapatnam, it said.
The Chief Minister also appealed Nadda to approve a National Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre at Visakhapatnam, and trauma care centres for all districts, the release added.
