Making the announcement at the inauguration of the four-day Krishi Udyan and Paryatan Vikas Mela at Chamoli, the chief minister gave a number of suggestions on how Gairsain can be evolved into a model of development for the hill state.
Located in the hill district of Chamoli, Gairsain is an emotive issue in Uttarakhand with a large section of statehood agitationists wanting it to be declared as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand.
All the fairs organised in the district will be linked with tourism, the chief minister announced and created a revolving fund for the purpose to which Rs 25 lakh will initially be deposited.
Rawat said if a farmer is not able to cultivate anything on his land he can even grow fodder on it, and after three years of doing so the state government would give bonus.
