Army is carrying out intensive area domination operation in violence affected areas of Assam where 81 people have been killed in attacks by NDFB(S), retaliatory violence and police firing since Tuesday.
"We have intensified counter-insurgency operations and area domination in all the violence affected areas to stabilise the situation," a Defence Spokesperson said.
The army has, however, not launched any fresh operation codenamed 'Operation All Out' as reported in a section of the electronic media, the Spokesperson said.
"The Commanders are keeping a close watch on the ground situation and reviews are being carried out dynamically to deal with the situation," he added.
Aerial surveillance of the area was also carried out by Army Aviation Helicopter sorties, he said.
Army was also extending full support to the civil administration to instill confidence among the affected people and restore peace.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the violence rose to 81 with two persons injured in the attack succumbing to their injuries in Sonitpur and Chirang while another body was recovered in Kokrajhar district.
An estimated 72,675 persons in the four affected districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Sonitpur and Udalguri have taken shelter in 61 relief camps, CEO of Assam State Disaster Management Authority P K Tiwary said.
In Kokrajhar district, approximately 40,000 inmates are living in 36 relief camps, in Chirang 14,920 inmates in 11 camps, in Sonitpur, 9,650 inmates are in nine relief camps and in Udalguri 8,105 inmates are in five relief camps.
A 12-hour Assam bandh, called by different organisations, paralysed normal life today though there was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the state.
