"In order to encourage sports and also identify talented boys and girls, 16 corps has conceived a district level cricket championship for boys and Kho-Kho championship for girls from the districts of Udhampur, Akhnoor, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kisthwar," a defense spokesman said today.
He said that the tournament was aimed at providing a platform to the youth of the region who underwent lots of stress after the devastation caused by the recent floods in the state.
He said that the teams of cricket and Kho-Kho from various areas within the tehsils were participating in the Phase one of the league, named as Pir Panjal Knights Premier League (PPKPL).
"The winners of Phase one will represent their District area in the Phase two of the tournament," he said.
