The deceased identified as Umesh Uppa, resident of Karnataka was deployed at 426 Engineering Field Company at Samdoh.
The deceased was on patrolling duty along Indo-Tibet border and was on way to Rani Kanda for setting up the base camp when a shooting stone hit him killing him instantly.
The body has been taken to Sangla for postmortem and the family members have been informed, police sources said.
